Minecraft, Coding, Gaming, & Tech Summer Camp Themes for 1st to 3rd Graders

Experience the wonderful world of Minecraft. Construct your own virtual world in a sandbox-like environment to challenge your mind and create your own adventures. In this exciting camp for younger learners, students will learn how to create their own mods for Minecraft 1.12.2, including a Battle Axe that launches explosive fireballs. Students will learn the beginner-level Java coding foundations such as Booleans and conditionals. This engaging camp will spark interests, foster creativity and help you maximize your learning potential. No prior experience with Minecraft necessary. Absolute beginners welcome!

Note: Drobots believes in the educational philosophy that students learn best when collaborating with their peers. From a social standpoint, campers learn teamwork, cooperation, and the importance of sharing and implementing ideas. This philosophy has been supported by some the world’s leading educators and technologists and backed by extensive academic research. However, campers may ask to work by themselves upon request.

Do you love Roblox and want to learn how to make your own games? In this exciting camp for beginners, students will learn the Roblox Studio game creation engine and the Lua scripting language, and build exciting professional grade games, including Obbies, Racing games, and Dodgeball games. Students will master important coding concepts such as conditionals, loops, and functions, and learn a powerful scripting language used by pro developers around the world! Throughout the week campers use the Roblox Studio editor and Lua (Roblox programming language) to build their very own Adventure Map. Each day will present a new challenge and a key concept, such as conditionals and variables. The ultimate goal of this program is to ensure campers are having fun while learning new concepts to progress their learning and build confidence coding, so they may prepare for the next learning opportunity in the future, all while having fun! No prior experience is required. We provide all technology on location.

In this introductory program and using Scratch, campers will make games, apps and movies, including Fruit Ninjas, Pong, and Breakout. Scratch was originally created at MIT and offers a simple environment for campers to learn about general programming concepts (ie: loops, conditions and variables) as well as how to build coding projects. While definitely a beginner’s program, this camp will build the foundation and confidence campers need to learn about programming. At the end of the week, campers will have learned the basic concepts to explore and work through problem-solving activities individually and as a collaborative group. Absolute beginners are encouraged and welcomed.

My twin girls have never been so excited to come home and share what they have learned. I wish there were more STEM-like programs that incorporated such a creative mix of technology, creativity and fun. Now it’s off to buy a pair of drones!

If I knew what drone racing was before I sent Zachary to this camp I would have enrolled myself! Seriously though, great job everyone. You are a team of professionals dedicated to educating the future generation of entrepreneurs and engineers. See you in the summer.

Our kids are having a blast. The special guest from the film company was a huge hit in our household. We are committed to providing opportunities where our children may engage in the ever-so-evolving space of technology, so we appreciate the program you have developed.  You may have some budding drone filmmakers in the making.
