Drone Summer Camp Themes for 6th to 8th Graders

This program is filled with pure action as students enjoy one of the world’s fastest growing sports, Drone Racing. Campers will first learn about the basic safety of drone flying and the history behind drone racing as a sport. From there, campers will progress through various skill challenges and learn how to perform various exercises and maneuvers to become familiar with the drone’s speed and agility. Flight squads post up against one another in friendly competition when they race themselves and the clock. Students will first maneuver the drone through creative obstacle courses before taking on the challenge of flying for speed. Participants contribute fully in this program as they create the design and help build the the obstacle course in preparation for the last day’s final activities and competition.

Drone search and rescue is a necessity for first responders around the globe, adding a new layer of creative solutions to save lives and increase safety. Firefighting and prevention, reforestation, search and rescue, utility inspections, medical transfers currently all rely on innovative drone solutions to reduce danger and increase efficiency. This innovative drone camp provides campers with the opportunity to participate in and learn from simulated missions during this action-packed, educational, and real-world applicable program. Campers will learn to free fly and code drones autonomously during this camp week. They also will rely on other members of their rescue team (flight squad) to collect vital data in specific “rescue areas” to locate “victims” and safely rescue them. Our instructors use age-appropriate and cutting-edge technology methods available for creating plans, missions, and maps. Participants will also learn invaluable lessons on how to simply, quickly and accurately make informed and targeted suggestions for real-world positive solutions.
This unique program combines drone and robot technology with the visual arts. Modeled after the Drobots National Synchronized Dancing Drone Competition, this STEAM-focused camp offers creative, fun and engaging projects for participants of all interests and experience. No other camp offers such an exciting opportunity to combine and synchronize drones flying in the air with drones rolling on the ground. Throughout the week, campers will split time between both the Dancing Drone activity station and the Drone Storyboard activity station where they will work together in teams to build a portfolio of creative technology-based presentations. Campers will utilize autonomous programming and technology to unveil real-life stories and performances as the drones and robots interact with one another and assume certain character roles within the story. It’s time to create a technology masterpiece with a narrative that includes: drones, robots, design, music, drawing, coding, and then share your final presentation with your family and friends.

Drobots’ camps for pre-teen and teenage students are specifically designed to introduce 21st century STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills in and out of the classroom! Summer is the perfect opportunity for 6th through 8th graders to learn about the many facets of drones, robotics, and the future of this budding industry.

All of our programs have been designed to encourage and build: fun, teamwork, curiosity, critical thinking, courage, and creativity. The summer is for experiential learning and Drobots Company is committed to providing a safe and friendly platform to deliver a program that “exceeds expectations”.

I was delighted to know that Sharon was not the only girl in the camp. The bonus was finding out that you have many female instructors and counselors. I think your drone program is the perfect setting for girls to become more involved in STEM-type programs, so I commend you for making Sharon (and her friends) feel so comfortable.

He was so proud and confident in what he was doing and I attribute it to what he has learned at camp this week. Your instructors not only teach flying, but self-confidence as well. Great program. Loved, loved, loved the obstacle course games. Can I come to camp? I grew up loving remote control helicopters and now dream about what it would be like had I grown up with this drone technology. When you start a program for adults you can count me in. In the meanwhile, we will see you later this month and perhaps at your overnight camp later this summer.
